چکیده

The effectiveness and safety of fixed dual long-acting bronchodilators for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients have been well established; however, there is a paucity clinical comparison in with COPD treatment. aim the current study was to compare three once-daily bronchodilator agents COPD. Patients diagnosed treated beta-agonist (LABA) + muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) fixed-dose combination therapy (UME/VIL (umeclidinium vilanterol inhalation powder), IND/GLY (indacaterol glycopyrronium), TIO/OLO (tiotropium olodaterol)) were enrolled this retrospective over period 12 months. Effectiveness assessments evaluated using assessment test (CAT) lung function parameters. Besides, times acute exacerbation also assessed. patients’ number 177 IND/GLY, 176 UME/VIL 183 TIO/OLO. Lung measurements FEV1 had significantly improved (98.7 mL) compared those (65.2 (64.4 (p < 0.001). CAT scores decreased (CAT down 5.6) than (3.8) (3.9) = 0.03). Acute reduced (4.9%) (10.2%) (11.9%) 0.01). Significant improvement function, symptoms demonstrated after months LABA/LAMA different treatment options. higher therapeutic effects or IND/GLY. Determining relevance will require well-designed randomized controlled trial.

CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Bronchodilator reversibility testing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Background: A limited or absent bronchodilator response is used to classify chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and can determine the treatment offered. The reliability of the recommended response criteria and their relationship to disease progression has not been established. Methods: 660 patients meeting European Respiratory Society (ERS) diagnostic criteria for irreversible COPD wer...

Comparison of the quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and control group

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the fourth cause of mortality and a leading cause of chronic disability worldwide. Given the nature of the disease and lack of any effective treatment, it can profoundly affect the quality of life (QOL) of patients. Studies about the effect of COPD on QOL have yielded contradictory results however, most studies suggest that COPD ne...

The Role of Tiotropium+Olodaterol Dual Bronchodilator Therapy in the Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Bronchodilator therapy is central to the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and are recommended as the preferred treatment by the Global Obstructive Lung Disease Initiative (GOLD). Long acting anti-muscarinics (LAMA) and long acting β₂ agonists (LABA) are both more effective than regular short-acting drugs but many patients remain symptomatic despite monotherapy with these drug...

The bronchodilator test in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: interpretation methods.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the best method for interpreting the bronchodilator test (BDT). Five formulas for expressing the BDT results were analyzed and compared: changes experienced by maximum expiratory volume in 1s (FEV(1)) and forced vital capacity (FVC) measured in milliliters, in percentage with respect to the baseline, in percentage with respect to the predicted, in perc...

Statins and Pulmonary Hypertension in Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease

Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) is a chronic multisystem disease with a considerable burden. One of its most common complications is pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). It has been demonstrated that the development of PAH is correlated with decreased quality of life and survival. Different medications have been proposed for the treatment of PAH, among which one can name statins. Howeve...
